4iiii reCycled Power Meters

Earlier this year, Canada-based 4iiii announced that they wanted to buy back your old and/or spare crankarms and recycle them as power meters. This is part of their reCYCLE program and is open to residents of the United States and Canada. 4iiii will clean up, test, and install a 4iiii power meter and sell them on as a refurbished unit.

At the moment, they only accept non-drive side (left) crank arms in good working condition. Minor scuffs and scratches may also be accepted. Successful applications will receive $30 to $45 cash or an option to donate the proceeds to charitable organizations dedicated to cycling initiatives.

“Everyone benefits from a circular economy where we reduce waste, reuse products, and preserve resources in an effort to protect our environment.”

Phil White, 4iiii CEO

Today, 4iiii has recently made all of its power meters available as a Ride Ready ReCYCLED. This includes their budget line, the Precision (left-sided), higher-end (left-sided) Podiiiium, and dual-sided Precision Pro range. They’re available for Shimano road, gravel, and mountain bike crank arms.

4iiii claims that the reCYCLED power meters are up to 30% cheaper than a brand new unit. For example, the 4iiii Precision for Shimano Dura Ace R9100 is 20% cheaper than a brand new unit which retails for $450. The Ultegra R8000 is 23% cheaper at $280.
